The Shasta Airflyte and our first big vintage camper rally

This past weekend, Sophia and I attended our first big vintage camper rally in South Bend Indiana. One of the gals I’ve known from Sisters on the Fly hosted and they had tons of activities for kids, so it was a very fun and relaxing weekend for both of us.

While Sophia ran with the kitten pack (the other girls her age she met at the rally) I wandered up and down the lanes getting all sorts of lovely ideas to add to our vintage Shasta. I really liked the use of folded vintage linens sewn into little slips for covering chair backs as well as the folded chicken wire window pockets. As someone who has been actively creative in as many mediums I can think of for as long as I can remember, I’ll definitely testify that owning a vintage trailer is absolutely a creative outlet. If you like painting, wielding power tools, sewing, and functional art, then you’ll love owning a vintage camper.

So many cute window box and flower display ideas.

My friend Kelle (from LittleVintageCamper.com) has been hard at work on her dream camper. She’s used vintage feed sacks for curtains and canvas drop cloths for upholstery.

So many pretty touches. This is definitely not roughing it.

I finally found the vintage wash stand I’ve been hunting for since last fall. Even picked up an enamelware basin to go in it for $5 over in New Buffalo.

And to close, I’m happy to share some interior shots of our Shasta Airflyte. She’s coming along. I’m pretty happy with the interior. Lots still left to do outside. She’ll get there. Baby steps…

Here are a few more of the vintage dolls that really caught my eye. There were too many beautiful old campers to show in one post, so if you’d like to see the whole collection, all of my photos from the weekend are here. Thank you to Sandra for a wonderful weekend!
